When our eyes are held shut, we express many types of emotions, such as fear, anger, happiness, sadness and fear. If the vet confirms that there are indeed some physical problems causing the depression, then you should consider treatment, including medication and possible changes in diet and lifestyle.

If the vet tells you that your cat is in fact exhibiting signs of depression, then you should start with him calming down. Cats love cuddling up with you so you should make sure that he is relaxed first. Once he is comfortable, you can slowly try to bring some attention to him, perhaps by petting him or playing with him a bit. He will eventually regain his appetite and will again be happy and lively.
